# What You'll Need:

→ Meats

01 - 8 beef or turkey hot dogs

02 - 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
03 - 8 thin slices cheddar cheese or American cheese (optional)

→ Toppings

04 - 2 tablespoons melted butter
05 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - 2 tablespoons sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
07 - 8 wooden skewers

→ Garnishes (optional)

08 - Ketchup
09 - Mustard

# Method:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Insert a wooden skewer lengthwise into each hot dog, leaving 1 to 2 inches exposed at one end.
03 - Unroll crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles. If using cheese, place a slice on each triangle.
04 - Position a hot dog at the wide end of each dough triangle and roll tightly to spiral dough around the hot dog.
05 - Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet.
06 - Brush each dough-wrapped hot dog with melted butter. Sprinkle with garlic powder and, if desired, sesame or poppy seeds.
07 - Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until dough is golden and fully cooked.
08 - Serve warm with ketchup and mustard for dipping.

# Expert Hints:

01 -
  • You get crispy, savory hot dogs with almost no fuss or fancy equipment—like a party trick for weeknights.
  • They're always a conversation starter, especially when you set out the skewers bristling with color and flavor.
02 -
  • If you roll the dough too loosely, it unravels while baking and loses that perfect spiral.
  • Letting the kids help with assembly means some dogs will look wild, but their excitement more than makes up for it.
03 -
  • Buying dough that’s really cold makes it easier to wrap and gives the best layers.
  • A sprinkle of coarse salt on top right before baking turns these into something truly craveworthy.
