Crispy Air Fryer Apple Chips (Printable)

Naturally sweet apple slices air-fried to crunchy perfection with cinnamon dusting.

# What You'll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 2 medium apples, any variety such as Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp

→ Seasonings

02 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
03 - 1 teaspoon coconut sugar or maple sugar, optional for added sweetness

→ Others

04 - Nonstick cooking spray or neutral oil for light coating, optional

# Method:

01 - Wash apples thoroughly and remove cores using an apple corer or knife. Slice crosswise into thin rounds approximately 1/8 inch thick using a mandoline slicer or sharp knife for uniform thickness.
02 - Pat apple slices dry with paper towels to remove excess surface moisture, which helps achieve optimal crispiness during air frying.
03 - Place apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping. Work in batches if necessary to ensure proper air circulation and even cooking.
04 - Lightly spray or brush slices with oil if desired for enhanced crispiness. Sprinkle ground cinnamon evenly over all slices, adding optional sugar at this stage if using.
05 - Air fry at 325°F for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping all slices after 7 minutes. Monitor closely during the final minutes to prevent over-browning, as cooking times vary by apple variety and thickness.
06 - Remove golden, crisp chips from air fryer and transfer to a wire rack. Allow to cool completely as chips will continue to crisp during cooling. Store in airtight container for up to 5 days.

# Expert Hints:

01 -
  • They satisfy that craving for something sweet and crunchy without any processed sugar or weird ingredients you cant pronounce
  • The air fryer makes them perfectly crisp in under 15 minutes, and your kitchen will smell absolutely incredible the whole time
02 -
  • Thickness matters enormously, and inconsistent slicing means some chips will burn while others remain chewy
  • These might seem slightly soft when they first come out of the air fryer, but they crisp up beautifully as they cool
03 -
  • Set a timer for every 2 minutes once you pass the 10 minute mark, because they go from perfect to burnt incredibly fast
  • Rotate your air fryer basket halfway through if you notice some chips browning faster than others
